Botox Intervention: A Complementary Approach

A Patient Receiving Botox Injections

At times when chiropractic care, medications and other conservative methods are not enough to provide symptom relief, Botox injections offer a suitable solution.

Do I need Botox?

Botox is a botulinum toxin, a purified toxin that is provided in a dehydrated form. Proper evaluation and muscle monitoring by a physician are critical in determining whether Botox intervention is right for you. Botox has been shown to be quite effective for short term and long term interventions.

How is Botox used?

Botox injections, widely popular for cosmetic reasons, can be used in a variety of ways to alleviate pain symptoms. One way is through trigger injections. Often these are injections of anesthetic medication, combined with anti-inflammatory medicine. This can be used to target specific muscles, ligaments or joints that contributing to the underlying pain that can be inhibiting the recovery process in a patient.

When is Botox recommended?

Botox intervention can be used to treat a number of conditions alongside a comprehensive therapeutic regimen (such as physical therapy). Classic conditions include muscle spasmsinvoluntary contractions, and post-stroke spasticity. Botox can also be effective in preventing headaches in adults that suffer from chronic, debilitating migraines.

What improvements can I expect from Botox treatment?

Alongside a personalized treatment plan, Botox can be helpful in minimizing pain, allowing for recovery progression. Botox has been shown to be very effective in relaxing muscles, reducing tone and spasticity; allowing for improved daily function and improved ease of the affected limbs.

How long does Botox Treatment last?

Depending on the treatment administered, Botox injections routinely last approximately three months, but the longer it is used, it is not uncommon for the Botox to last even longer.
